Mita X Moniker

A tasty new identity by Moniker for Felipe and Manuela - the husband-and-wife chocolate artisans known as Mita Chocolate Co. Based in Bogota, Colombia, Mita sources beans from Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia to create their amazing bean-to-bar chocolate. And now they have a lovely new suite of packaging adorning their tasty creations with a colour-coded pattern system that gives flexibility to the brand and the future range. 

The challenge was to create a marque that reflected the story of the brands origins in Colombia with a modern and authentic design.

'We researched Colom­bian and pre-Colombian folk art and zeroed in on the pat­terns and shapes we found con­sis­tently through­out both. Using a lin­ear motif, rem­i­nis­cent of Wayuu mochila bags, the logo­type was drawn using sim­ple shapes. This gave us some­thing leg­i­ble that still felt unique and dif­fer­ent enough from a reg­u­lar typeface.'
